OUR VALUES
Maintaining the health of all the fisheries that we participate in has been a fundamental priority to Deep Sea Fisheries since our founding in 1981. A commitment to responsible fishing practices is evidenced by our certification in the Alaska Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) programs.
OUR STORY
President and Co-Founder of Deep Sea Fisheries, John Boggs, began fishing in Alaska as a deckhand at age eleven. That first summer was the beginning of a life of fishing ventures encompassing fisheries operations both in Alaska and internationally. From this humble beginning, with an entrepreneur’s spirit, he has participated in fisheries that are now mainstays in the Bering Sea and beyond. John and his partners were the first to fish a newly Americanized Alaskan pollock fishery with the vessel Arctic Trawler. Outside of the US, John and a partner imported shrimp and langostinos from Chile in the early 1980’s. He traveled to the Soviet Union exploring distant king crab fishing prior to Perestroika; he was one of the first to send catcher processors to the newly opened Russian king crab fishery. Through Deep Sea Fisheries, John continues his involvement in Alaska and Washington fishing operations. (Pictured with wife Linda at Big Creek Alaska.)
Products:
Alaskan Sockeye (Red)
Sockeyes are the second most abundant salmon in Alaska and are known for their rich flavor and striking red flesh.
Keta (Chum)
Keta are known for their brilliant pinkish-orange color, firm texture and subtle flavor.
Pink Salmon
Known for their rosy-pink colored flesh, Humpback Salmon are the smallest and most abundant of the species. They have a delicate flavor and tender texture.
Alaska Coho (Silver)
The full flavor of this fish with bright orange-red flesh is just one reason why Cohos are rapidly gaining popularity among consumers.
Pacific Cod
Pacific Cod has a mild, almost sweet flavor. Many sauces and herbs are complementary for this fish that is often used for fish and chips. Our Cod is Frozed at Sea, which ‘locks-in’ the quality and goodness of the fish. The catch is cleaned, filleted and then frozen on the trawlers within five hours which guarantees freshness and quality.
Black Cod
The Black Cod has a rich flavor — its white flesh is delicate and velvety smooth. The Black Cod has been named an up and coming fish to cook. Our Cod is Frozed at Sea, which ‘locks-in’ the quality and goodness of the fish. The catch is cleaned, filleted and then frozen on the trawlers within five hours which guarantees freshness and quality.
King Crab
The King Crab is the largest and most versatile crab. Prized for its white body and leg meat, it is unmatched for its sweet flavor and tender texture.
Dungeness Crab
This crab is popular for its sweet flavor and tender flakiness. It has a striking orange color and is often served whole.
