What We Do
Pescanova is based on vertical integration, which goes through the entire process from catching the products to be commercialised, through their processing until the targeted product is obtained, to putting them on the main markets in Europe, America and Japan. Within this vertical integration, the initial access to the resources can be obtained by catching them with its own fishing fleet or growing them on its several farms.

PESCANOVA’ S PRINCIPLES
• Ecosystem Preservation
• Sustainable development
• Rationalisation of fishing activity
Pescanova is aware of the importance of an adequate legal and biological framework for the management of marine resources as the only way to obtain a sustainable stable annual catch. Pescanova assumes the principles and rules provided by FAO’s Conduct Code for Responsible Fishing.
The Pescanova Group, since its foundation in 1960, has searched for environmental protection and improvement, whether directly through its own investment in means which allow maximum respect for Nature, or by means of encouraging the enactment of laws and rules which may protect it. All the Group’s factories and vessels are equipped to achieve maximum respect for the environment and, due to the Group’s fishing activity, the maximum preservation of the natural sea-farming wealth is sought by catch limitation and the creation of long enough closed seasons to maintain the fishing-grounds where Pescanova fishes in an ideal state year after year.
The Pescanova Group has actively participated with the Governments of countries where it develops fishing activity to get a progressive and better legal and biological regulation of marine resources.
This philosophy of conservation and rationalization of fishing activity has been and is one of the strategic pillars of PESCANOVA’s industrial activity, allowing the company to view with a high degree of optimism the future of fishing resources in the areas where investments have been made over recent decades.
