About Us
The Geraldton Fishermen’s Co-operative Ltd was established in the 1950’s by a small group of fishermen with a vision to market their own quality lobsters worldwide. Over 60 years later the commitment, expertise and teamwork of this evolving group of fishermen, directors and staff has made GFC the largest processor and exporter of rock lobsters in the world today.

GFC is 100% owned by its fishermen and license holders. This gives the company full control of product quality from the ocean to the market. Six of the board of eight directors are elected from the membership, while two are chose for their specific corporate expertise. GFC members have a direct stake in the financial success of the company and a deep pride in the famous Brolos brand, motivating them to catch and produce the best rock lobster product possible. They work together for the common benefit: fishermen working for fishermen, on the water and in the board room. And so the mission of the Co-operative is clear: To deliver the highest possible levels of service to our members and clients, to create the best premium quality lobster products in the world, and to create the maximum value from this unique resource.
