Company information
HitraMat AS is located at Hitra Fiskerihavn and in the largest fishing area for crabs in Norway, with excellent environmental advantages such as clean air and clean seawater. It is a very short distance from the fishing grounds to the production site at Kuøya. During the season from May to December, fishermen deliver daily crab of superior quality. In 2011 was 3.500 tons of edible crab processed at HitraMat AS. HitraMat AS also sell locally harvested clams and Langoustine of superior quality.

Quality control is a high priority. HitraMat AS is certified according to BRC standard. An internationally recognized standard that has been developed to specify the safety, quality and operational criteria. All raw material suppliers are given the company’s own “quality manual for fishermen,” containing procedures for sorting and storage.

HitraMat AS is leading within the market of processed crab in both Norway and France. We also have significant sales to Sweden, United Kingdom, Southern Europe and Asia. We have a large network, both through our own sales channels and via other Norwegian seafood exporters.

The Quality System
HitraMat’S Quality System – production of safe food

HitraMat AS is certified according to the British food standard BRC (British Retail Consortium) – Global Standard for Food Safety. This standard has been developed to specify the safety, quality and operational criteria that must be in place to meet the obligations in terms of legal compliance and consumer rights.

This sets strict requirements on HitraMat, far beyond the requirements of the Norwegian legislation. To ensure product safety, our suppliers and service providers are also subject to strict requirements. All raw material suppliers are given the company’s own “quality manual for fishermen,” containing procedures for sorting and storage.

The BRC standard is recognized by many retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers around the world, and will be taken into consideration when suppliers are evaluated. Hitramat’s products have the proven quality, a quality that is rooted in the company. Therefore, Hitramat would be a preferred supplier for many customers.

HitraMat AS is audited annually by a certification body, in accordance with the requirements of the BRC standard.

Retail
Dressed crab
Crab shell filled with brown- and white crab meat, roe and cocktail claw.
May contain small shell fragments. Available as fresh and frozen goods. Shelflife for fresh product: 5 days.
Size: 150 gr.

Cooked crab – whole
Edible crab cooked whole. Guaranteed full fed ready for serving.

Snap Crabclaws “Ready to Peel”
Crab claws from edible crab. Cooked, washed and cut / sawn shell.

Premium crab meat
White and brown crab meat. 350 g white crab meat and 150 g of roe / liver.

Luxury Cocktail Claw
Front part of a cooked crab claw, hand peeled with one of the claw tip intact.
Cocktail claws are single frozen (IQF). Available as frozen product.
Size: Packed in 500gr bags, vacuum packed.
Cartons of 12 bags, net weight 6 kg.

Luxury claw meat
Hand peeled cooked claw meat in a mixture of smaller and larger pieces.
Available as frozen product. May contain small shell fragments.

Outsorted crab claws
Outsorted claws from edible crab.
Typical for outsorted claws: black spots, broken claws and joints or low food content.
Boiled and washed. Unclassified. Frozen product.

Leg Meat
Contains crab meat from the leg. Crab meat is separated from the shell using a separator.

Fine Minced Crab Meat
Contains crab meat from the body/leg – cluster.
The crab meat is chopped (fine minced). No shell pieces larger than 0.5 mm.
Natural flavour, no additives. Often used in surimi production.
Frozen in blocks, Frozen product.
Size: 6 kg block.
Carton: 3 x 6kg = 18 kg / Pall: 36 Carton á 18kg = 648kg

Brown meat of crab
Roe and liver mass from the Crab.  Brown is the mix of about 30% liver of male crabs
and 70% liver and eggs from the female crab.
No shell. Separated from the shell with a machine.
Natural flavour, no additives. Frozen in blocks, Frozen product.
